Tips for a Safe New Year’s Eve

It’s no secret that drinking and driving is a huge danger every New Year’s Eve, but even if you’re not drinking, there are a host of other dangers that could ruin your celebration.

To help make sure you have a safe and happy holiday, here are a few tips that everyone should follow:

  • Sharing the road: New Year’s Eve means dangerous roads… there’s just no way around it. Even if you’re doing everything possible to be safe, you’re still sharing the road with drivers who may be distracted, drowsy, inebriated and impatient. So keep extra aware of the cars around you and give yourself some extra room.
  • The more the merrier: Going out with a group of friends is more fun and almost always safer.
  • GPS: Counting down to midnight at a home, restaurant or event in a location that you’re unfamiliar with? Use a GPS app to create and save directions for your entire trip before you leave the house. It will help reduce distractions, confusion and delays.
  • Dinner is served: Once the evening gets started, it’s easy to get distracted and forget to eat. Even if you aren’t drinking, eating an early dinner ensures you have the fuel to last until the New Year arrives!
