Albuquerque Prozac® Lawsuits
Prozac® is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant medication manufactured by Lilly. Prozac® is prescribed for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic attacks, postpartum depression (PPD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). As with many SSRI drugs, it has been linked to a higher risk of suicide in those who take this medication.
Dangerous side effects and birth defects in newborns whose mothers were taking the SSRI drug Prozac® while pregnant include: omphalocele (babies born with organs outside the body); premature closing of the skull (craniosynostosis); born without a forebrain (anencephaly); spina bifida; autism; anal atresia; limb reduction defects; heart defects; heart disorders; cleft lip or palate; clubbed foot; diaphragmatic hernia; hypoplastic right heart syndrome (HRHS); hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS); atrial septal defects (ASD); ventricular septal defects (VSD); septal heart defects; pulmonary hypertension (PPHN); cardiomyopathy; craniosynostosis; omphalocele, ductus arteriosus; transposition of the great arteries; tricuspid stenosis; bicuspid aortic valve defects; cleft mitral valve; and anencephaly.
